Mass Shooting Blues — A Poem Written By A Friend

wordlycreative:

My friend Aaron Scott Robertson wrote this piece. It speaks the truth in many different ways. Give it a read and you may relate to this …

Mass Shooting Blues

“Our hearts go out to the families…” becomes an overused phrase,
It’s heard all the time now as more people go into a merciless craze,
The politicians propose after-the-fact preventative bills,
Tryin’ to save some face after someone just got away with multiple kills.

We flock to our churches and temples afterward to pray,
All these routine ceremonial things we feel obligated to say,
But let’s be honest here, it’s really not going to help our ailing hearts,
’Cause in the end, gone forever are our loved ones to these piercing hate-filled darts.

Actually, these days, it seems we can no longer walk into a sacred house,
Without taking the chance someone’s gonna be there with death and destruction to espouse,
I’ve witnessed or experienced so much blues that sometimes I wish I had never been born,
I look around this forsaken world, tired of constantly having to mourn.

Why do you have to shatter innocent lives with that fateful sound,
When soon enough without your help we’ll all be in the ground,
In due time we’ll all be in the tomb,
Each and ev’ry one of us shares this fateful doom.

Why can’t you allow us to enjoy this little time,
Let us be afforded the chance to live past our prime,
Instead of making us walk around in public while imagining our worst fears,
Making us wonder if today is our last or if we’ll be granted a few more years.

Hello all Daily Ambient fans

I can’t wait to listen to what he creates next!!

dailyambient:

Hi out there to everyone who has followed me on this project this summer. The support is wonderful! The summer has been extremely eventful for me, and a time of great personal change. I have a young son, who I have watched turn from a baby to a toddler, I have revisited my home, which I have been absent from for 3 years, and I have set for myself the great personal challenge of creating a piece of mindful and considered music every day. Your interest in this project has been a great boost for me.

The summer is growing short, and as cool winds begin to blow across the land and the leaves all have their final dance, I will be concluding the project. At least for now. As a way of saying thank you, I would like to offer my followers here free downloads of the collected work release I plan for the winter.

I will keep this tumblr alive, at least until then.

Stay tuned, stay open, and stay listening!

Thank you all!

- Ryan

What a beautiful way to end the summer series of DailyAmbient!!  For those of you who are following some of the reblogs that I have done - this is the final track of the summer.

I did a remix using 3 of his tracks from various days and he will be posting the remix.  I took about 30 seconds or so from 3 different tracks and added some effects to them.  The clips I made all came out sounding different and I am excited with how it turned out.  Hope you will enjoy it also.

I also hope this inspires another ambient musician to do some similar - maybe a Fall Season Series?
